Propane IV

The latest quad revolution started with Fish and other quiver builders, but designers like Chris have finally unlocked the potential of true high-performance quad-fin shortboards by rewriting the rule book in shortboard design. The Propane IV features similar rockers, concaves and foils to our thruster Propane model, but features three major differences. First, the boards are built with 5 fin plugs so the board can be ridden as a quad or a thruster. Second, the tail is wider and straighter in the last couple of feet of board (to fit the extra fins) making the board extremely drivey and fast. And third, we build it with a diamond tail to shorten the rail line up an inch or so, to loosen up the tail (otherwise the wide tail might feel “stiff”). OK, there are a few top secret tweaks in there too, but Chris isn’t giving away all of his secrets!
This board is extremely versatile. Throw a fin key and a couple of extra fins in your beach bag and you can literally transform your ride mid-session.
As a baseline we recommend using your favorite thruster side fins (FCS G5s for example) with G1000 rear quad fins. And for bigger guys, use your favorite big-guy thruster fins (Merrick G-AMs for example) with G3000 rear quad fins. Tweak and tune from there.
